ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE Our service includes the Airport Shuttle to pick you up at the Oporto Airport (OPO - Francisco Sá Carneiro) on Arrival to Oporto and to drop you off on Departure from Oporto (10 Km Trip Airport - Oporto Excentric Hostel takes between 10 to 15 minutes). You can plan your vacation at any time, because we operate all year round and this service is available everyday from 4:30h till 19:30h. Taxi service is available for other schedules with extra supplement. RENT A CAR

SURF SCHOOL Located in Matosinhos beach, next to Vagas Bar, the Surf School provides lessons and equipment hire with excelent facilities with how showers and bathrooms.

EC-cards, credit cards and cash are accepted in many restaurants and shops. Using your EC-card you can withdraw up to 200 € at many cash a day from one of the many cash machines.

MATOSINHOS BEACH
Matosinhos is located north west of Oporto looking out onto the Atlantica Ocean. It houses the biggest artifical port in Portugal and has long been associated both with fishing and sea tranport industries. Today, Matosinhos is geared towards tourism and its beach is regularly used throughout the year by surfers of all types and abilities. The beach is medium sized and sandy with lots of space. The beach can be found easily on foot by leaving the metro station and following the avenue west until you come to the beach. By car you simply follow the IC24 via Rapida to Matosinhos.
This beach is a sand bar with frequent sloppy waves. The swell size starts working at 1 meter and holds up to 2.5 meters. The waves come from right and left with a normal power. The summers are pleasant here with water temperatures ranging from 12 degrees to about 19 degrees in the summer and air temperatures ranging from 10 degrees in the winter to 30 degrees in the summer. You can get by with just a pair of shorts or a shorty through the summer, in the winter months you need to suit up accordingly.
There is plenty of free parking at this spot and the beach is only about a ten minute walk from the city center. There are also shower and toilet facilities on the Surf School. In addtion you can find surf shops, bars, restaurants a Shopping Center with Ocean View, the City Park, Sea Life, the Cheese Castle and many other points of interest with some limited nightlife.
ATERRO BEACH
Situated on Portugal's north western coast in the region of Oporto lies the beach at Aterro. It is a popular spot for surfers of expert ability only. You really have to know what you are doing here because there are numerous hazards, such as large rocks in the water, strong currents and some pretty large waves. Aterro is a medium to large sized beach that is made up of sand and small pebbles. To get here you will need to drive north from Porto on the coast road, until you see signs for Aterro and the beach. There is plenty of parking close by.
The water quality is clean and conditions are choppy to wavy most of the time. However you can pick up some of the largest waves around (well over 3 meters) at this spot. The water temperature remains between 12-20 degrees depending upon the time of year. You will need a long suit during the winter months.
The facilities here are very good. On top of ample parking you also have eating establishments, shower and toilet facilities, a shop and a fully manned rescue center. If you require some really good nightlife, then the city of Porto is only a few minutes drive away.
This spot has a lot of hazards, so do not surf here unless you are competent in your abilities. Watch out for strong tides and really large waves. Also look out for large rocks in the water that are exposed during low tide. Keep an eye out for other surfers in and around your area.
LEÇA DA PALMEIRA BEACH
With strong waves breaking onto vast expanses of gorgeous white sand, Leça De Palmeira is a popular venue for experienced surfers of all types, especially towards its northern part where it merges with Aterro beach. There are rocks to the north and a big harbor mole to the south which is why this spot is not suited to beginners. The beach lays just to the north of Porto and is well signposted. The water quality is clean with good, medium sized waves for most of the time. You need to have your wits about you and keep any eye out for the rocks to the north as well as the mole to the south. The water temperature ranges from 12 degrees in the winter to 19 degrees in the summer with air temperatures ranging from 10 degrees in the winter to 30 degrees n the summer. You can get by with just a pair of shorts for the summer months but come winter and you will need to suit up accordingly.
There is plenty of parking here and a few places to grab a snack or a drink. For supplies you may need to head into Porto. This destination is geared up for youngsters and there are plenty of bars and discos staying open until the early hours.
